Leadership Delaware Director of Development & Communications/Social Media


Under the direction of Leadership Delaware’s CEO, the Director of Development is responsible for leading, executing, and achieving development efforts consistent with the organization’s development plan. The Director of Development works closely with the CEO, the Development Committee, and staff to grow the program’s base of support, particularly from individual donors, corporations, and foundations. 

  • Development responsibilities include:
    • Responsible for leading, executing, and achieving development goals consistent with the LDI development plan
    • Research grant options at local, government, and national levels
    • Prepare and customize responses and packets for grant and foundation applications, manage deadlines 
    • Plan, promote, and manage Annual Giving Day 
    • Create and manage solicitation letters to individuals, corporations, and other key constituents 
    • Maintain and manage contact lists, fundraising revenue reports
    • Schedule meetings with foundations, trusts, corporations, and prospective donors
    • With support from the Chairman & CEO and Development Committee, create, plan, and support implementation of special fundraising events 
    • Build and manage database 
    • Other duties as assigned


Direct the communications of the organization and create awareness of the Leadership Delaware program, as well as the program’s impact on the Fellows, Alumni, their employers, and the State of Delaware. Create content to disseminate through various marketing channels as outlined below: 

  • Communications: Manage and create content for the following:
    • Monthly and quarterly marketing newsletters, and other LDI publications
    • Work with staff on alumni events and day of event planning
    • Design and distribute LDI publications
  • Social Media
    • Manage and create content for LDI Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook pages
  • PR and Media Outreach, General Marketing Support
    • Create marketing and development pieces for general overview of organization and recruitment for each new class
  • Website 
    • Manage all updates and changes to content, events, Alumni biographies, videos, etc.
    • Create Alumni and Board portals
  • Videos: Manage marketing video shoots and manage vendor relationship
    • Post and promote videos to social media channels, website, and newsletters
