Vishal Patel, M.D., MBA, is a practicing primary care physician at ChristianaCare and serves as a senior clinical investigator at the Value Institute and the clinical lead for his office. Through his roles, he focuses on improving patient outcomes through fostering teamwork, invigorating joy in the workplace, and alleviating caregiver burnout. He has been the recipient of Top Doc in Delaware and recognized as a rising star by ChristianaCare’s Medical Dental Staff.

Dr. Patel has effectively led multidisciplinary groups to help improve chronic care management through a group visit program for diabetic patients and to create a standardized transition process for discharged patients to have timely primary care follow up to prevent readmissions and improve outcomes. His main focus area of interest is implementing digital interventions within primary care and evaluating its effectiveness on clinically relevant outcomes.

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree with distinction in service from Albany Medical College and his MBA in health systems administration from Union Graduate College. He completed is dual internal medicine-pediatrics residency at ChristianaCare and served as chief resident in his last year of training. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

He currently lives in North Wilmington with his wife, Vrunda Patel who is a pediatric gynecologist, and two young children.
