Matt Wilson, Ed.D. Wilmington University
Dr. Matt Wilson is an Associate Professor and Director of Liberal Arts at Wilmington University. He also serves as the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) to the NCAA for the University. Matt holds degrees in psychology, ministry, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Innovation and Leadership. During his time at Wilmington University, he has served on a variety of committees including Chair of the Faculty Senate’s policy committee, curriculum committee, the Middle States Accreditation Self-Study Steering Committee, and two terms as the Chair of the Faculty Senate. He also serves on several committees with the NCAA.
At the age of 29, Matt was diagnosed with early stage pancreatic cancer. Fortunately, surgery was successful and he was declared cancer-free around Christmas of that year. Since his year anniversary, Matt has been volunteering with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network on both local and national levels. Currently, he the Advocacy Chair for the State of Delaware and a member of the Community Engagement Committee of the Board of Directors.
One of Matt’s biggest passions is service work which includes building projects in Mexico, volunteering at food banks and homeless shelters, and extensive disaster relief work with clean up and rebuilding in the Gulf Coast and New Jersey/New York.
Matt is a renowned speaker having spoken in a variety of arenas nationally and internationally, including several radio, podcast and TV appearances, which include Good Morning America and Inside Edition. He has been recognized nationally for his diverse work including the Randy Pausch Award, the NCAA's FAR of the Year and being named one of Delaware’s 40 under 40.
