Lisa Maxwell, MD, MHCDS is a board-certified family physician. She practices at ChristianaCare and serves as the Chief Clinical Transformation Officer for the system.

Dr. Maxwell leads the design of an integrated, coordinated clinical service delivery
transformation strategy that maximizes efficiency, enhances quality and continuously
optimizes care. As an institutional transformation agent, Dr. Maxwell will promote new
ideas and new ways of thinking about clinical care delivery to accelerate achievement of
population health.

Dr. Maxwell has served as ChristianaCare’s Chief Learning Officer and Designated
Institutional Officer for the system where she oversaw the strategic direction and activities
of the Institute for Learning Leadership and Development (iLEAD), including all Graduate
and Undergraduate Medical Education. Prior to that, she worked in both student and
resident education, serving as the program director in Family Medicine, co-program
director for the Emergency Medicine-Family Medicine Residency Program and director for Undergraduate Medical Education. She has served as interim chair for the Department of Family & Community Medicine.

Dr. Maxwell completed her medical education at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Her residency training took place at Crozer-Keystone Family Medicine.

She joined ChristianaCare in 2005, completing a fellowship in faculty development with a
focus on the care of underserved populations. In addition to leading efforts in clinical
system education, she led efforts to establish the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of
Thomas Jefferson University’s Delaware Branch Campus for medical students.

She received a Master of Health Care Delivery Science from Dartmouth College in 2018.

She has held regional and local leadership positions in various organizations, including on
the board of the Delaware Institute of Medical Education and Research (DIMER). She
continues to practice primary care at ChristianaCare Family Medicine at Claymont Center.
