Judy C. Campbell

Judy C. Campbell Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 83, Gold Star Mothers and Families Chairperson

Judy Campbell Campbell was born at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda, British West Indies and raised in Arlington,
Virginia where she attended Marymount University majoring in nursing and is a graduate of John Robert Powers School
of Modeling. She is the daughter of the late Esther B. Campbell Gates and step-daughter of the late Brigadier General
Mahlon “Ink” Gates.

Judy is the proud Gold Star Sister of Sp/4 Keith Allen Campbell (KIA 02/08/67). The manner in which Sp/4 Campbell lived, and died earned him our Nation’s second highest award, the Distinguished Service Cross and there is an ongoing effort to have this upgraded to the Medal of Honor. Annually the George Washington Chapter Association of the United States Army presents the KEITH A CAMPBELL MEMORIAL to an outstanding soldier in the Washington, DC area where Judy presents this award. November 14, 2006, the Fort Sam Houston Library located in San Antonio, TX was renamed the KEITH A CAMPBELL MEMORIAL LIBRARY. On November 8, 2007, The Department of the Army held the red carpet viewing of the video documentary “Army Medic: The Spirit of Courage”. This documentary is used in training of all combat medics and Keith is one of the three combat medics featured.

Judy is the Gold Star Mothers and Families Chairperson for Delaware Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 83, Inc.

Judy’s goal and desire is to perpetuate the memory of not only her brother, but also all those who have faithfully served
our Nation and to honor the families that have given them to us. Judy works tirelessly on behalf of Gold Star Families and continues to pursue a National Gold Star Program, making The First State, Delaware, the model to the Nation until every American is well versed on the meaning of Gold Star.

To date, her many accomplishments to the First State include:
1) Hometown Hero Banners, 2) Gold Star License Plates, she worked nearly 2 years to have, the then moratorium lifted, which also afforded Vietnam Veterans, Buffalo Soldiers MC, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans a long awaited license plate. 3)Passing of Honor and Remember Flag Legislation, 4) Renaming of the busiest highway in the state to Gold Star Families Highway, 5) Chairperson for the Delaware Hershel ”Woody” Williams Gold Star Memorial at DRBA, where she secured the $48,000 for this project. 6) Recipient of the Delaware Academy of Medicine Public Health Recognition Award for services provided to veterans and Gold Star Families 7) Dedication of the “Preston Marckese Memorial Interchange” Rt 1 and Rt 72 8) Assuring, all veteran organizations, include introduction of Gold Star Mothers and Families at their various services 9) Securing Reserved parking for Gold Star Families and Purple Heart recipients at the DENG.

In Judy’s spare time, she enjoys gardening, needlepoint and spending time with her husband of 50+ years, their two
children and seven grandchildren.
