Dave Skocik

Dave Skocik President/Delaware Veterans Coalition

Vietnam veteran and a co-founder of the coalition. He retired from the US Navy Reserve in 2007. He is
the owner of PR Delaware LLC, a Dover-based public relations business.

Dave Skocik holds a masters degree in communication from Temple University and is nationally
accredited by the Public Relations Society of America, for which he’s served as a state chapter president,
Mid-Atlantic District Chair, and as a national educational affairs committee member.

While state PRSA president in 1997, he chartered and advised the organization’s student chapter at
Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware.

His 25 years + experience in public relations working with diverse audiences is broad and includes 11
years as executive director of college relations and assistant professor of communication at Wesley
College, in addition to owning a PR consulting business.

He co-authored “The Air Controller’s Controversy,” about the 1981 air traffic controllers’ strike, which was
republished in 2006. Dave has also served in the military as a journalist and public affairs specialist. In
January 2005 he was chosen as the military parade announcer for the White House reviewing booth at
President Bush’s inauguration.

Experienced in electronic media, he has been a radio announcer and has co-produced and hosted an
award-winning TV quiz show for Delaware high school students since 1987.
Dave has served in many public service organizations in Delaware and is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary
International.

Perhaps most relevant to many of his business clients is that he’s been a mechanical contractor and
understands the challenges involved in running a small business and effectively communicating with the
public.
