Autumn Tuxward New Castle County EMS
Autumn Tuxward is a Paramedic Lieutenant with New Castle County EMS. Originally from California, I have called Delaware my home for 19 years. Hired by New Castle County in 2005, I became the first black female paramedic and in 2020 Lieutenant for NCC*EMS, I strive to be an example for women and people of color of what is possible. In my time at the county I have functioned in many capacities some of which include, recruiter, Field Training Officer, Academy Instructor, and currently as a shift commander over a platoon. During the Pandemic, Executive Meyer task me with the unique role of coordinating the County's COVID-19 testing and vaccination response; which resulted in 483 test sites providing over 500,000 tests and vaccination clinics that provided over 2,000 vaccinations. I am guided by my belief in the power of strong communities and the transformational ability of servant leadership. In 2022 I was awarded the Jefferson Award for my leadership in community engagement. I currently reside in Middletown, DE, am a Dallas Cowboys fan, and a mother to three incredible human beings, who I am absolutely inspired by.
