Nitin Rao

Nitin Rao is a longtime Delawarean. After graduating from Tower Hill School, he earned his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and then his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law.
Throughout his educational career Nitin cultivated a background in health care. After law school he took a job with the Medical Society of Delaware, a physicians’ association, helping to grow its management subsidiary, MedNet of Delaware. For five years he managed MedNet’s operations, negotiating and managing contracts between physicians’ organizations and payers. Then five years ago, he shifted to his current position, which is essentially handling government affairs for the Medical Society. He monitors legislative and regulatory matters that impact physicians and their patients, advises the Medical Society’s leadership on its legislative agenda, lobbies legislators, and testifies at administrative hearings, among many other duties.

Nitin was inspired to volunteer with the March of Dimes after witnessing the struggles and joys experienced by his friends whose twins were born prematurely. Nitin now serves on the Board of Directors, chairs the Public Affairs Committee, and participates on several event committees. Nitin recently joined his LDI classmate, Bianca Fraser-Johnson, on the Board of Trustees of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Delaware Chapter. He looks forward to participating on the Government Affairs Committee and generally serving this worthy cause.
