Andrew M. Lubin President, Delaware Financial Group
After graduating from Syracuse University, Andy joined Leon N. Weiner and Associates. He then joined the Commonwealth Trust Company where his responsibilities included non-residential brokerage and land development. He formed Delaware Securities & Investments, Inc., an NASD Securities firm which offered limited partnerships in real estate and oil & gas programs.
Andy retired from the University of Delaware after having spent five years as the Director of Real Estate for the University of Delaware. He was responsible for the development of the former Chrysler assembly site into the University’s Science, Technology and Advanced Research Campus (STAR). With Andy’s guidance, the property has been transformed into a transit oriented research epicenter, establishing university/partner opportunities, collaboration with the United States Army, and other economic development-job-growth endeavors for the State, the University, and the citizens of Delaware. In addition to the Science & Technology Campus development, Andy was also responsible for all university campus and academic real estate.
Following the opportunity at University of Delaware, Andy returned as the president and founder of Delaware Financial Group, a real estate and investment consulting firm that provided real estate consulting services principally focused on economic development, job growth and retention. Delaware Financial Group was retained by or represented several public and private clients requiring expertise in land-use, zoning, environmental and regulatory issues, development and real estate acquisition and financing structuring. DFG’s clients included Brandywine Town Center, the Delaware Economic Development Office, Delaware Department of Transportation, DNREC (Parks and Recreation), The University of Delaware, and the Delaware Technology Park. Andy has assisted clients requiring work-out situations, loan modification, and real property disposition. He was also directly involved with acquisitions, leaseholds, purchase options, tax-free exchanges, and deal-structuring. Andy is now active again with Delaware Financial Group. Currently, he is assisting the Governor and his administration with the mitigating the impact of the DuPont Company’s down-sizing and eventual merger with Dow.
Andy is a Delaware Real Estate Broker. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors and an officer of the Delaware Technology Park and a member of the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council (DEFAC), the DelDOT Corridor Preservation Program, Delaware Business Roundtable, Inc., the Delaware Economic Development Office, Easter Seals Board and Real Estate Trust and the Red Clay Education Foundation. In addition to being Chairman of the Council of Development Finance for DEDO and the Lottery Commission, Andy is a director of Artisan’s Bank, Resource America, Inc. the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, and The Grand Opera House. Andy is also a Christiana Health Care System Trustee and a member of the Nominating Committee.
