Bill Rivers is the senior writer at BP America, delivering strategic communications messages for executive leaders on energy issues within the US and worldwide. Bill
served as speechwriter for U.S. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis at the Pentagon from 2017-19, traveling extensively and developing strategic messages in support of U.S. national security priorities.
Prior to the Pentagon, Bill held communications roles in the U.S. Senate, including deputy press secretary for Senator Pat Toomey. Bill holds an MPA from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied as a Truman Scholar, and a BA in International Relations from the University of Delaware. He is an NBC News contributor. Bill and his wife and son live in Virginia.
