Carlos J. Asarta, Ph.D. Director, Center for Economic Education & Entrepreneurship, Associate Professor of Economics - University of Delaware
Carlos Asarta is the director of the Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship (CEEE), and associate professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Delaware. He holds Masters and Ph.D. degrees in economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His scholarly work focuses on the areas of economic education, assessment, and economic and financial literacy. Asarta is the recipient of several teaching, service and research awards including the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska Outstanding Educator of the Year Award, the Rising Star Award from the Council for Economic Education and the Phillip Saunders Best Research Paper Award from the National Association of Economic Educators. Carlos is the author of Asarta/Butters Principles of Economics, a McGraw-Hill product that is interactive, adaptive and in alignment with how today's students seek and learn new information.
As CEEE director, Asarta oversees the annual production of more than 100 in-service and pre-service teacher training programs, graduate courses, and student programs. He leads the unique Master of Arts in Economics and Entrepreneurship for Educators degree, exponentially broadening the center's global impact, and is a dissertation advisor in the Ph.D. program in economic education. Carlos previously served as Chair of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Teaching Council and is currently a member of the Coordinating Committee on Education at the University of Delaware.
