Edward J. Capodanno

Edward J. Capodanno President, Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. (ABC), Delaware Chapter

Edward J. Capodanno has served as President of Associated Builders and Contractors, Delaware Chapter and the Construction Education Foundation of Delaware since 1993.  It is a non-profit trade association that represents commercial and industrial merit shop contractors in Delaware.

He currently serves the Chair of the Board of Directors for Jobs for Delaware Graduates. He has served on the Board and chaired many civic and educational organizations over the years including the Delaware Military Academy, the YMCA of Delaware, the Better Business Bureau, the Delaware Safety Council, the Wellness Community, Boys & Girls Club of Delaware and the Claymont Community Center.  He is a past chair of the Renovation Oversight committee for the Brandywine School District coordinating $270 million of capital improvements to schools in the district.  He also volunteers his time for Delaware Special Olympics as since 1990 and is currently the Area Director the Wilmington Wizards overseeing 16 sports and 650 athletes.  He was inducted into the Special Olympics Hall of Fame in 2010 for all his volunteer work.

Ed also serves on a number of governmental task forces, including the Delaware Workforce Investment Board, and Governor’s Workers’ Compensation Oversight Panel. He previously served on the Governor’s Procurement Council, the Governor’s Prevailing Wage task force, the Department of Education School Construction Committee, Delaware Blue Collar Jobs task force and the New Castle County Vocational School District mentoring program.

He has received numerous community and civic awards and recognition including the YMCA of Delaware Volunteer of the Year Award, the Delaware Advisory Council on Career and Technical Education Outstanding Contribution by an Individual and the Claymont Lions Club Humanitarian Award.

Mr. Capodanno is a native Delawarean, graduated from Salesianum High School in 1978 and Salisbury State College in 1982 with a B.A. degree in Communications.
