Fleur McKendell President/Central Delaware NAACP
Fleur McKendell is President of the Central Delaware Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and 2nd Vice President of the Delaware NAACP State Conference of Branches. A native of Newark, New Jersey, Fleur has been a resident of Delaware since 2006. As an activist and organizer, Fleur is passionate about the development and enforcement of equity-centered policies. Fleur's many years of experience working with a variety of community and civil rights organizations focuses on creating inclusive strategies that equalize opportunities for marginalized populations and expand community capacity.
Outspoken, ambitious, and unapologetic in her pursuit for a more equitable society, Fleur has made the fight for fairness her life's work. Fleur's deliberative vision and focused intentionality is well respected and warmly embraced within her local community and has inspired a number of engaged and spirited activists of diverse backgrounds and all ages, empowering them to take deliberate action to create positive change. Fleur remains a consistent fixture in her community, providing extensive support in the areas of economic empowerment, voting rights, criminal justice reform, and health and education equity. Fleur is regularly on the forefront of campaigns that seek to expose and eradicate social constructs that perpetuate injustice and has been featured on media platforms such as WBOC, News Journal, Delaware State News, and the Highlands Bunker podcast speaking truth to power and challenging policies and practices that have disparate and disproportionate impact on vulnerable and marginalized populations.
Fleur holds two Master's degrees from Wilmington University, one in Organizational Leadership and the other in Healthcare Administration- both summa cum laude. Fleur also holds a certification in Diversity and Inclusion, accredited by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Fleur is currently employed as a Director at the Delaware Department of Insurance and as an Educator at Delaware Technical Community College. With over 20 years of combined experience in the business and education fields, Fleur’s professional work involves cross-functional leadership, project management, and designing and implementing prudent curriculum and teaching methodologies that promote student success
