James McClain, Jr. Barclaycard
A native of Newark, New Jersey, James relocated to Delaware in 1993 to attend Delaware
State University. After obtaining a degree in Business Administration in 1997, he immediately began his career in finance landing his first position as a loan officer for Avco Financial. In 1999, he began working in management for MBNA specializing in credit analysis and strategic loyalty programs. James later joined Bank of America serving in several leadership roles in the Collections division including prospect and pricing strategies. In 2012, James earned is Master’s degree in Organizational Behavior.
James currently serves as an Assistant Vice President for Barclaycard USA. During the past several years, James has developed strategies for POS systems, managed training and
development programs for partnerships across the United States and various countries across the world, and is the segment lead for risk management and process improvement for his division.
James is a Fellow of Leadership Delaware as of 2011. Additionally, he actively serves on the boards of Friends of Wilmington and the United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware. He remains active with the youth of his community through mentoring with YMCA Black Achievers Program and serving as a 2018 committee member for the annual Ebony Black Tie Affair. In his spare time, James is a motivational speaker and business consultant that serves business leaders and marketing companies along the East Coast.
