Karen Matteson Stand By Me, Empowerment Program
A native Delawarean, Karen Matteson is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and has done that through work in a variety of settings. She lead a grass roots effort which resulted in legislation being passed in 2009 to support education continuity and effectiveness in a local school district. She continued her community change activism by to improve lives in Delaware, by joining United Way of Delaware and worked to launch a “ground breaking” financial empowerment program called “$tand by Me” and post-secondary education efforts to ensure high school students were aware of opportunities to continue their education and pursue their dreams.
A graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in Business Administration, Karen started her career in financial services as a Vice President of Operations for both MBNA America and First USA before seizing an opportunity to launch and build an entrepreneurial venture.
In 2014, Karen returned to her first love of team leadership in the financial services industry and rejoined JP Morgan Chase as a Vice President in Business Engineering. Karen resides in Bear’s Emerald Ridge community with her husband, Ken, and their children, Grace and Kenny.
