Kelly Bachman University of Delaware
Taking on roles that bridge an expertise in communications with a passion for serving the community, Kelly's professional focus is fueled by a strong desire to connect, educate and inform others. This focus is clearly defined in her current role as Director of Communications for the University of Delaware College of Health Sciences. She leads a team of communications professionals driven to develop dynamic content that highlights the innovative research and robust array of services and programs available to students and the community, which support the improvement of health outcomes and development of the next generation of health professionals.
Prior to her current role, Kelly served briefly as a senior communications manager for ChristianaCare, developing C-Suite Executive and thought-leadership communications, while also collaborating to advance internal and external communications, media relations, and issues management. Before that, she spent nearly 13 years building a career as a public servant in government communications - three years, locally, as the communications manager for the City of Newark, and nearly a decade in state-level communications roles, serving honorably as a member of Governor Jack A. Markell's senior staff, and as the lead communications specialist for the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families.
As a communications professional for nearly two decades, Kelly has forged strong relationships with colleagues throughout Delaware, with media throughout the region, and with industry professionals across the country. She has presented at national conferences and participated on several state and regional panels as a subject matter expert on communications.
