
Luz Elena Garcilazo DuPont
Luz Elena was born in Tampico, Mexico. After being granted a Scholarship of Excellence (Beca de Excelencia), she graduated with honors as an Information Systems Engineer from the Tec de Monterrey in Mexico. She received recognition from the Rotary Club for her academic achievements, leadership in the Students Council, and community work. In 1999 she completed her MBA in Finance, while she was working as an Operations Consultant. In 2003 she relocated to Wilmington, DE to work as a Sr. Consultant. Luz had the opportunity to give back to the community when she became part of the LACC Mentoring Program. After seeing the diverse opportunities that Delaware offers, she decided to accept a job with DuPont in 2005 to extend her stay. Through her stay in Delaware, Luz has led different committees in DuPont and has actively participated as a volunteer in the Christiana Care ACE Unit, Mentoring/Coaching programs to help develop others, and promoting the arts in Wilmington. She plans to continue working on one of her passions: education. Currently works as a Process Design and Readiness Leader in DuPont and co-leads the education pillar in a recently formed non-profit,”Latinos Unidos”, as part of United Way of Delaware.
