Michael Dejos, Pharm.D. Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare
Dr. Michael Claro Dejos is the System Medication Safety Officer of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, TN. He received his doctor of pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences where he developed his strong interest in medication safety. After receiving his degree, he completed a pharmacy residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, Pennsylvania and later completed a medication-use safety residency at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee at the rank of clinical fellow. At Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Mike leads the Medication Safety Committee which oversees the High Alert Medications Taskforce, the Hazardous Medications Committee, the ADR/Allergies Workgroup, and the Pyxis Utilization Workgroup. In addition, he performs medication error investigations and implements medication-use process improvement projects. Within Delaware, he is an active contributor to the efforts of the Delaware Pharmacists Society, the Delaware Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and Safe Kids Delaware. On a national level, Mike is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and he currently serves on the Medication Safety Section Advisory Group. His research and practice interests include system-level error reduction strategies, medication event detection, and clinical decision support.
