Preston Schell

Preston Schell Chairman & CEO, The Ocean Atlantic Companies

Mr. Schell is co-founder and CEO of the Ocean Atlantic Companies, a diversified group of real estate development, management, construction and brokerage firms primarily focused and operating in Southern coastal Delaware. Mr. Schell serves as the Managing Member of approximately 50 limited liability companies engaged in OAC’s various real estate activities and development projects. Prior to starting Ocean Atlantic in 1997, Mr. Schell worked as an investment banker for Merrill Lynch in Chicago.

Mr. Schell is also involved in a number of not-for-profit entities. He is on the board of Leadership Delaware, Inc., a non-profit that seeks to identify, encourage and empower the future leaders of Delaware. He co-founded in 2001 the Sussex County Land Trust, a public/private partnership between the real estate community and the County with the mission of preserving open space in Sussex County, and served as its Vice Chairman for over 10 years. He is a member of the Nassau School Coalition, a non-profit seeking to preserve one of the original DuPont schools in Lewes built for African-American children in the 1920’s. Mr. Schell recently served on the board of the Lewes Historical Society, as the Chairman of the Delaware Chapter of the Nature Conservancy and is a leader in the formation, serving as the Chair of the site selection, design, and construction committees, of the Sussex Academy charter school.

Mr. Schell graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College (1996) and he has an MBA from the Harvard Business School (2002). He resides in Rehoboth Beach, DE with his wife, Kathleen, and two sons, Jack and Brady.
