Shelly Cecchett became the Executive Director of the Greater Kent Committee a second time in 2008.
She has worked in the nonprofit arena more than 30 years including serving as the Executive Director of
the New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts First Night Dover.

Shelly has served on many boards and committees over the years with a primary focus on serving
Central Delaware. Most recently, she has served on the executive committees of the Kent Economic
Partnership and DE Turf, is chair of the DRJC Wealth Creation Committee, and volunteers on the
nomination committee for the United Way.

As the executive director of the Greater Kent Committee, Shelly oversaw the creation of two 501c3
organizations; the CenDel Foundation and the DE Turf, helped secure the funds to purchase and
renovate the CenDel Community Service Building in the heart of Dover, participated in the
restructuring of the Kent Economic Partnership and currently serves on many community taskforces
including Ready in 6! and Delaware Work-Based Learning subcommittee.
