Alan Levin is currently serving as Senior Advisor to Delaware’s leading food service provider, SoDel Concepts. This came after his selection by Delaware Governor Jack Markell to serve in his cabinet as the Director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, DEDO. During his 6 and half-year term, he was responsible for the business and economic strategies for the State of Delaware. His service came during the worst recession of recent history and the state’s unemployment reached a high of 8.9% by 2010. As a result of his leadership, by the end of his service in June of 2015, Delaware was leading the region in job growth and unemployment stood at 4.5%.

Before joining Governor Markell, Levin served as President and CEO of Happy Harry's, the tenth largest drugstore chain in the United States, before it’s merger with the Walgreen Company in July 2006. During his tenure he grew the company from 16 to 76 stores, 2700 employees, and revenues increased from $66 million to nearly half-a billion.

In recognition of Levin’s service to Delaware, Governor Markell awarded him The Order of the First State, Delaware’s highest honor. He is also the recipient of the Delaware Distinguished Service Medal from Delaware's Adjutant General for his work to assist the families of the National Guard and Reserve during Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. In 1999, Levin was named the Retailer of the Year by the trade publication, Chain Drug Review. In 2006, he was the recipient of the Ronald L. Ziegler Lifetime Achievement Award. A member of the Delaware Bar, he served in the Delaware Department of Justice as a Deputy Attorney General, and as Executive Assistant and Counsel to U.S. Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Levin is involved in numerous civic and corporate activities. In 2001, he completed a term as Chairman of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, a Washington, D.C.- based organization that directs lobbying and professional activities for the industry.

Levin served for 6 and half years as Chairman of the Board of the Diamond State Port Corporation and the Delaware Economic Development Authority. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce, and a former Chairman of the Board of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Boards of Tangen Bioscience, George & Lynch, Inc., Wesley College, Beebe Medical Foundation, and the Freeman Stage. Additionally, he served as an advisory board member of the Delaware State University School of Business and the University of Delaware's Lerner College of Business and Economics.

Born in Wilmington, Levin graduated from Concord High School, Tulane University, and the Delaware Law School. He and his wife Ellen have 3 sons, 2 daughter-in laws, 4 grandchildren, and a Golden Retriever.
