Kyle Sheppard The Laffey-McHugh Foundation

Kyle M. Sheppard is a Delaware native currently volunteering with organizations including the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League, its Youth & Education Committee and Compassionate Community Project. He is a secondyear doctoral practitioner interested in impacts of structural racism on the social, political and environmental determinants of health in education and the role of institutions serving students and families. He is a graduate of Delaware State University with Master of Education (M. Ed.) in Educational Leadership also holding a B.S. in Psychology, having graduated summa cum laude focused in Drug & Alcohol Assessment and Co-Occurring Disorders and minored in Gender Studies, focused on Violence Prevention. His prior work includes delivering community engagement strategies for entities including city, county, state, federal government, local and national advocacy organizations, and proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. His scope of Community Development Through Community Involvement nurtured his mission to explore examining classrooms as communities and communities as classrooms in providing the reparation, restoration and transformation they need. His mission is to build and bridge the potential of peers, colleagues, and stakeholders unto the needs and priorities of evolving local and broader communities through an authentic and devoted commitment to equity and excellence.
