Nikko Brady Deputy Secretary, Department of Agriculture, State of DE
Nikko Brady is the Deputy Principal Assistant and Policy Advisor to the Delaware Secretary of
Agriculture. She has a bachelor’s degree in environmental policy, a master’s in city planning, and
certification in Applied Sustainability. Nikko’s background is in public policy and program integrity.
Before joining the Delaware Department of Agriculture, Nikko worked as a policy analyst with the
Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General. In her role at the Department of Agriculture, she
manages legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives. Nikko advises the Secretary on policy related to
the Department and the agricultural industry at large. Part of her responsibility is pursuing projects
that advance the industry including promoting factual and science-based narratives about agriculture
and the role of the agriculture sector to ensure health and nutrition in Delaware and throughout the
world.
Nikko has worked with the Secretary to create the Delaware Council on Farm and Food Policy, which is
part of the Johns Hopkins national Food Policy Network. The Council is the first of its kind in Delaware
and with its statewide approach, addresses food insecurity challenges in both urban and rural
communities. Nikko also leads the Department’s involvement in the Delaware Integrated Data
System, a state-led initiative to facilitate data sharing and coordination between state agencies. Nikko
is a board member of the Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center; the Chesapeake Agriculture
Innovation Center; and is Co-Director of the LEADelaware program, an agriculture leadership
program.
