Attorney General Kathy Jennings was sworn in on January 1, 2019 and serves as Delaware’s 46th Attorney General.

Attorney General Kathy Jennings was born and raised in Wilmington, she graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, University of Delaware, and Villanova University Law School, before joining the Delaware Department of Justice.

As a prosecutor Kathy has handled scores of cases including matters of domestic violence, sexual assault, and murder. In one of the most well-known cases in the history of the state, Kathy worked with the FBI, New Castle County Police Department, and the Delaware State Police to identify, arrest, and prosecute a serial killer who tortured and murdered five women. This case marked the first time that DNA analysis was admitted into evidence in a Delaware Court.

After years of service in the office Kathy was named Delaware State Prosecutor and later went on to serve as Chief Deputy Attorney General. While serving as Chief Deputy Kathy along with others created the Consumer Fraud Division to protection consumers against fraud and abuse.

After working in private practice for years Kathy returned to the Department of Justice to serve at State Prosecutor under Attorneys General Beau Biden and Matt Denn. Under their leadership, Kathy successfully sought legislation ending mandatory life sentences for people convicted of drug crimes, worked with the Police Chiefs to create a model body-worn cameras policy, and secured funding to get the life-saving drug Narcan in the hands of first responders.
